A terrace restored

This terrace was originally designed with a lawn in its centre. The grass has become long and is patchy in places.

Subsidence behind the retaining wall has loosened the edge slabs making them extremely dangerous.

The grass is removed and the soil is excavated. The slabs are lifted and cleaned of old mortar.

With the site cleared the subsided back fill has been topped up and compacted. The slabs are re-laid and the centre is covered in weed control fabric.

To complete the restoration the centre is filled with Scottish beach pebbles.
