Low level decking
This slabbed area is starting to show its age. Subsidence has loosened some slabs and the area does not get much use.
The trellis posts are rotten and timbers now support it. To revitalise this garden the slabs are to be removed and replaced with a low level deck. The trellis will be demolished to open up the garden.
The site has been cleared. A few firm slabs have been left as the base for a new shed to be installed.
The frame for the deck has been constructed. The ground underneath has been covered with 'weedbloc', a fabric the allows water to pass through but does not allow weeds to root into the ground. For many weeds this is enough to prevent them growing. Those that do are easily removed by hand. The fabric extends beyond the deck because gravel will be spread around it. The fabric will prevent weeds here to and help keep the gravel clean.
The bed has been divided using stone found at the end of the garden. The beds from this point are covered with a decorative bark mulch. The trees have been trimmed, removing the lowest branches to extend views through the garden.
The deck boards have been installed and treated with a wax preservative.
The rose quartz gravel adds bright colours to the garden. The colours compliment the unstained tones of the timber and the surrounding plants.
